Sep2008/1 bulletin: Tragedy at D'Kayangan raises security concerns further

Killing at D'Kayangan Shah Alam worries Greenlaners

The tragic killing of a resident recently has stirred up strong emotions and concerns amongst Greenlane residents. The perpetrators were believed to be involved with a spate of burglaries in the Klang Valley and Negeri Sembilan. With the general concerns about the local economy and escalating cost of living, a number Greenlaners are expressing concern of the level of security in our area.

Need to enhance security services

Security measures such as home alarms, grilles and security guards will not completely eliminate crime in a residential area. However, each security measure will reduce the probability of such crimes. Several security incidents in Greenlane last year prompted residents to engage the services of external security companies to provide added security deterrents. Despite this, many residents still feel insecure due to the limited number of guards.

Lt. Colonel (rtd) Johar Abdullah of 11 Jalan U8/75D, and President of the residents committee appealed, “I would like to ask all residents to jointly participate in our security arrangement. To date, we are managing with a limited number of participants, which means we are unable to request for more guards to cover our area. Collection is also a problem as not many have paid yet. I hope that concerned residents will contact their respective line leaders to ask how they can contribute towards better security in Greenlane.”

Other developments

  • Car stickers are available from the respective line leaders. Each home will be allocated 2 stickers at RM3 each.

Tenaga Nasional addresses power surge issues

Following from several power surge experiences in the area, certain residents contacted Tenaga Nasional, who recently came round to provide additional power surge protection. However, residents are still advised to inform Tenaga or post on the residents website if the power surges still recur.
