Homeguards has issued an important message to security subscribers in Bukit Jelutong following a worrying spate of robberies. Please read the important message from Homeguards and let us assist them and the authorities to ensure the safety in Bukit Jelutong and ourselves as well.
Dear members,
Warmest regards from the Homeguards crew. Of late, there have been a spate of break-ins and attempted robberies in the area. Three Chinese-looking men with parangs have been terrorizing the area. These men attack enclaves where there is only 1 or no guards at all. They come in a red-coloured Toyota bearing the registration number WQH 6213. The most recent cases are as follows:
- 23rd March, 10.30pm, Jalan Adang U8/18 – 3 men attempted to break in. The quick-thinking owner locked himself in a room and called his friend who in turn called the call centre. Call centre informed our Officer who happened to be with the BJRA president. They rushed over (with some friends / neighbours as well) but could not locate the suspects who had fled the scene. The Special Branch arrived minutes later followed by the Police patrol car.
- 25th March, 9.30am, Jalan Serambi U8/25C – House was robbed by three parangwielding men, believe to be the same gang who attempted the robbery in Adang. There was only 1 guard on patrolling duty. This is a non-member.
- 25th March, 10.30am, Jalan Jendela U8/20B. House under renovation attacked. Threecontract workers tied up. This area has no dedicated guard as only about 20 houses are members.
- 25th March, Jalan Tiang Seri U8/73E – Alarm fuse was stolen. Possibly by the robbers who planned to attack the house.
- 26th March, Jalan Jendela U8/20B – The same house (case 3) was attacked and robbers tried to steal the car but failed. Fled with the Smart Tag.
We have reported to the police and informed all our guards in the Klang Valley to watch out for these suspects. We are also conducting random checks on cars entering Bukit Jelutong. The robbers are targeting “soft areas” where there is only 1 guard or no guards on duty at all (see cases above). Fortunately no one has been hurt and we advise all residents not to try and engage these men. Our canine unit is also on daytime rounds now.
Please help us with the following:
- Look out for suspicious characters and cars. Beware of cars parked in front of houses fora long time. Do not stereotype – crooks come in all forms.
- Call the call centre immediately at the slightest suspicion (03-33733 994).
- Watch out for your neighbours. Advise maids to be vigilant.
- Please be our eyes and ears in your neighbourhood especially in areas where we have only one guard manning the area during the daytime. Help us to help you be safe.
We have put up barricades in certain areas to narrow down the roads. We have sought ameeting with the local police to beef up security measures in Bukit Jelutong and we hope that these suspects will be apprehended soon.
Together, we will make Bukit Jelutong a safe place to stay. Thank you.
